About us

ShiHe Stray Animal Rescue Center

ShiHe Stray Animal Rescue Center is based in Fengxian, Shanghai. We believe rescue means more than taking an animal out of danger; it means doing our best to care for what comes next.

About international adoption

The rescue centre cares for more than 300 dogs and more than 200 cats. Many have experienced life on the street, abandonment, illness, injury or rescue from unsafe conditions.

After rescue, animals receive basic medical care, vaccination, worming treatment, sterilisation and daily care when it is safe and appropriate. Animals assessed as suitable for family life and long-distance travel may be matched with homes in China or overseas.

Why international adoption matters

We continue local adoption events in China, especially for puppies and kittens. For some animals who can adapt to overseas life and travel safely, we also arrange adoption in Europe, Canada and other suitable regions.

International adoption is not simply sending an animal abroad. It is an assessment, preparation, transport and follow-up process. Each animal is reviewed for temperament, health and adaptability before travel.

Main adoption regions

Overseas adoption is currently mainly focused on Europe, with Canada arranged case by case. Entry rules, flight routes and transport costs differ by country, so every animal's plan must be confirmed individually.

Animals who have found homes

In 2025, the rescue completed 86 overseas adoptions. Behind each number is an animal who was once forgotten and now has a family.

We hope these stories help more people see what rescue animals from China can become: not only animals who needed rescue, but family members who are valued, supported and loved.
