Who are WE?
Welcome to the international adoption support website for ShiHe Stray Animal Rescue Center. ShiHe is based in Fengxian, Shanghai, where rescued dogs and cats receive long-term care. This website is maintained by overseas volunteers to support international adoption families.
International adoption support
International adoption is not simply sending an animal abroad. It is an assessment, preparation, transport and follow-up process. Each animal must be reviewed according to health, temperament, adaptability and destination requirements. Actual arrangements depend on the animal, adopter and current rules.
Rescue centre volunteers mainly collect and upload the animal information. Overseas volunteers publish the public profiles, help with adoption-preparation communication and provide settling-in guidance for adopting families. According to the rescue centre’s records, 86 international adoptions were completed in 2025. Each one depended on daily care at the rescue, veterinary preparation, travel coordination, flight and foster volunteers, and the commitment of the adopting family.
Main support regions
Most international adoption support currently focuses on Europe, with other destinations considered case by case depending on the animal, available routes and the import requirements in force at the time.

About adoption stories
This website only shows stories currently recorded and suitable for public sharing. It is not a complete historical record for the rescue centre.
Published stories remove adopter names, contact details and exact addresses. They keep only the country, broad region, year and any message the family has chosen to share.
