Rescue story
Jojo was rescued from a dog-meat truck when she was young and lived at the rescue for nearly two years. Everyone at the rescue was fond of this sweet girl. Because of her past, she is cautious and slow to warm up, and for a long time she did not meet the right adopter in China.
Adoption note
Adopted in Ghent, Belgium, 2025
After living in Belgium for more than seven years, we finally felt ready to adopt a dog. By chance, we saw a post from @施和流浪动物出国领养 and immediately noticed the brindle little dog, Jojo. ShiHe's volunteers were very thoughtful. After many messages, photos and videos, we soon knew Jojo was the one. They even arranged a temporary home in China so she could get used to family life in advance. Jojo is timid and cautious, and her temporary foster carer carefully recorded and shared her habits, challenges and little details with us, which helped us prepare. On 22 October, we drove from Ghent to Amsterdam Airport to pick her up. The round trip took six hours, and it was already late at night when we got home. Jojo did not toilet indoors, but she barely dared to move. The next day, she resisted going out and did not eat much. The adjustment process was long, but luckily Jojo is gentle and well behaved, and step by step we waited until she truly relaxed and became the little angel she is now. These days, people often compliment her on walks, and even the vet was surprised by how long her body is. It turns out that a little dog can bring far more emotional comfort than we ever imagined.
